Devil Kings announced for the Wii

"Capcom is working on Sengoku Basara 2: Eiyuu Gaiden for the PS2 and Wii, better known in the US as Devil Kings. There is no information on the game as of right now. It is unknown if this is a true sequel to to Devil Kings, or rather a much expanded upon version of the first. Hopefully more information will surface soon. For those of you that don’t know what Devil Kings is, check out the Wiki page."

*Rumor* RTS Warlords coming to the Wii?

"I love the Wii. I can see potential for all of our current projects to go there, but we don't have any definite plans yet," Fawkner said. "We have another project just starting up now, it's too early to mention it in detail yet, but it's a strategy game in the Warlords series. We're developing this one with both handhelds and the Wii in mind. We'll be taking it along to show off at GDC in March, so hopefully in a few months' time we might have some good news on that front."

Fans of Warcraft and Starcraft would really like for this to come true. The Wii seems like a perfect console for RTS type games and this would be a good start. More as it develops.

Disaster: Day of Crisis hype movie

Some small bits of the clip is the game running in real time. I think it looks very good and will only look better when it finally gets released late this year.

Resident Evil 4 anyone? I'm sure we will be seeing a lot more on this game very soon. One screenshot leds to another. Can't wait to see more since this is one of the games I'm very excited to play on the Wii.

Sonic and The Secret Rings Review

"Sonic and the Secret Rings looks fantastic on the Wii. The levels are extremely detailed and colorful. Special effects are in full force throughout the game and the little details, like heat signatures, reflections, and dust particles don’t go unnoticed. The game sports a very smooth frame rate throughout despite the speed of the action. While it doesn’t look as good as the recent Sonic the Hedgehog on Xbox 360, it still offers a very satisfying visual experience."

"Sonic and the Secret Rings is an encouraging sign that good Sonic games can still be made. I had a tremendous time exploring the different stages and the skill points add a bit of depth to an otherwise straightforward game. As it stands, Sonic and the Secret Rings is a game I would recommend to anyone with a Wii. It’s good to have the blue blur back!"

The words too good to be true ring to mind when I read over those features of this "ultimate" Wii modchip. Maybe some of those features could work but having all of them especially the DVD playback with one special chip is hard to believe. They are going to be charging $65 for this mod when its released in 3 months. I guess we'll see if this actually comes out and works.

Would you pay $65 for this modchip if it worked?

Ultra 64 lives!

WOW, now that is retro. I remember seeing some screen shots of the Dolphin video and thinking how incredible it looked way back at the beginning of 1995. Having games that had full 3D movement and no pixels when you got up close to walls was way ahead of the competition at the time. It seemed Nintendo was going to be an unstoppable force.....until the cartridge format messed everything up. The Nintendo 64 seemed to be about technology and graphics, where the Wii is all about fun and how you control the games. Nintendo sure has changed. For the good.

Wii really capable of High Def gaming?

"IT IS AMAZING WHAT you can get out of a drunk Nintendo executive. Who would have thought Nintendo knows anything about CPUs and GPUs?

The bit I got the other day was that the Wii GPU has full hi-def capabilities even if they are not exposed.

The reason you don't see it is twofold, the fact that the console can't really push HD rez at reasonable frame rates and the fact that it would cost more. The latter will probably become a moot point with the first Wii refresh but the former problem is really here to stay.
What it comes down to is that the Wii may be the best console out there, but don't look for 1920 * 1080 games pushing full rez. If anything, SD or maybe widescreen upscaled is about all you will see, but for me, I just want HDMI outs."

This doesn't surprise me that much seeing that the original Xbox could do 720p resolution. Could a more simple game like Wii Sports 2 be a 720p Wii game? We'll see.

Sonic and the Secret Rings GoNintendo impressions

"I am not declaring this Sonic a winner just yet. I am cautiously optimistic, only because of my previous Sonic experiences since Sonic Adventure. The one thing I can say for sure is that I am having a lot of fun. I don’t see any reason why things wouldn’t continue that way."

Nice new Heatseeker screens

Nintendo responds to Manhunt 2

“Manhunt 2 is not developed or published by Nintendo. It is one of many titles released by third party publishers for our system that appeal to people of all ages and interests. Just as with movies, television, and books, different video games appeal to - and are appropriate for - different audiences.”

“Video game retailers and purchasers are strongly encouraged to follow the age-specific ESRB ratings when considering what software to sell or buy. If parents are concerned about kids having access to inappropriate Wii games, we encourage them to utilize the PIN-operated Parental Control features built into Wii.”

New Sonic screens and new level shown

Manhunt 2 screenshots and boxart

Screens are from the teaser trailer and the boxart is from Gamepress. Just how gory will the Wii version be? I'm thinking Rockstar wouldn't be putting this on the Wii if Nintendo was going to censor it, so I'm betting that its going to be up to Rockstar and not Nintendo on how violent this game is.

Well I think we all had an idea this was going to happen. Reggie has been in talks with Rockstar Games for a while now and it seems to have paid off big time. You can throw out the words "kiddie" and "Wii" in the same sentence, this one is going to be a blood bath.

New Wii Soccer title?

No name and no release date but could it be FIFA? Konami might not be done with their Wii announcements after all, but don't quote me on that.

If you have seen the videos for this game you will know how exciting it looks. The controls sound very easy to learn and make the game even more immersing. Look for more soon.

First Scarface pics for Wii

I honestly thought the game would look worse than this. Not half bad considering that its another port. Some of the ground textures look decent. More soon.

Square Enix in talks with Nintendo to solve "Friend Code" issue

Link to story

"Sadly Tanaka-san does not believe the Wii hardware would be able to cope with Final Fantasy XI, which was sad to hear since the game has already appeared on the far inferior PlayStation 2. When pressed on this matter, it was revealed that the problem lies more with Nintendo’s current online stance – not wanting people to interact online without the aid of Friends Codes. However, the key point to mention is that Square Enix is currently in talks with Nintendo about resolving this point of contention!"

Reggie has said in the past that he would like to see an MMO game on the Wii. Getting past this friend code issue would solve a lot of things for developers to feel more comfortable to bring an online game like that to the Wii. If the friend codes stay, I'm sure Nintendo has some ideas of how they could make it work for an MMO type game. Stay tuned.
