I'm going on a much needed vacation tomorrow to South America. It will be nice to get away from the grind for a while. After hearing that the Nintendo Gamers Summit mainly focused on games coming before Metroid Prime 3, Smash Bros. and Mario Galaxy I'm sure I won't be missing too much news while I'm gone, then again you never know with Nintendo. Have fun playing the Wii, the best is yet to come.....

Sony makes excuses for slow PS3 sales, says it's a ten year machine

"We didn't get into PS3 for the first six months of 2007 - we're into this for the next 10 years and beyond," said Tretton.
"A million units one way or another at this point isn't going to worry us."
Tretton's argument was backed up by IDC analyst Billy Pidgeon, who agreed that Sony is playing a longer game. "The PS3 is ahead of the market, while Xbox 360 and the Wii were designed for immediate market impact," he said. Pidgeon also confirmed that he expects sales of Sony's next-gen console to ramp up in 2008.However Kyoshi Shin of Japan's International Game Developers Association was less positive, suggesting that many developers are shifting their focus to Nintendo Wii.
"When people talk about the PS3 on chat forums, they say it's like going to a very expensive restaurant and not getting anything to eat," he added.
Link
So Tretton is saying the PS3 is supposed to sell bad right now? Then why release the machine in 2006 and not 2008 when it would be ready? Winners in the console wars usually take place within the first year, just look at the PS2 and what it did the first year it was on shelves. Even if the PS3 did last for 10 years, the Wii successor and 360 successor would surely be out by then and make the PS3 look like very old news. The point is, Sony better find a way to increase sales now on the PS3 or basically Nintendo and Microsoft will eat up the industry like they already are (the Wii). For Nintendo fans it looks like the Wii just may in fact "win".

Command & Conquer 3 could come to the Wii

"Although trickier, a Wii version with motion controls obviously brings up a lot more exciting possibilities for the RTS legend - and it looks like EA is pondering as well. "There isn't as much under the hood," says Glosecki, "so it obviously won't look as good. But as far as control goes, I don't see why it can't be done."
Link
It may not look as good but I'm guessing it won't look too bad considering the PC version didn't require that high of specs to run the game. I hope EA makes a Wii version, the PC game is pretty good.

Spider-Man 3 got you down? Great graphics are coming to the Wii very soon
Do yourself a favor and turn the sound off if you are going to watch this trailer. The guy from 1up.com keeps bashing the Wii's control while he is playing it, this is before the Wii was released and I know for a fact that many people who have gotten used to the Wii by now would not be such winning morons like this guy who can play the game just fine but keeps saying it makes him feel so bad at playing video games. LOL.
Anyway, this video serves as a reminder that a game done on the Wii from the ground up can look fantastic. This clip of Metroid Prime 3 is old and by now the game probably looks a lot better since it is nearing completion. I can't wait to see how awesome it looks.
Spider-Man 3 was made from the ground up for the Wii and it looks like a complete piece of crap compared to MP3. Both games made from the ground up, but only one developer actually is putting time and resources into their game. Spider-Man 3 is not a good example of the Wii's power at all. Just because a developer makes a game from the ground up on the Wii doesn't mean that the power of the system is going to be used to its full extent. Vicarious Visions should be ashamed of their poor effort on such a beloved franchise as Spider-Man. When people see games like this on their Wii it can be easy to forget that the system is more powerful than that. Developers (like Vicarious Visions) make it seem like they really tried to get the most out the hardware and yet the game still looks like a mess.
I hope Spider-Man 3 on the Wii has terrible sales because that will be the only way developers will get the hint that people are not going to buy games that have no true effort put into them. That being said, I do like a lot of the gameplay in Spider-Man 3 on the Wii (Web Slinging). However, the graphics are too inexcusably bad for the Wii when it is at least twice as powerful as Gamecube. This is a broken record that needs to stop.
So, enjoy the trailer of Metroid Prime 3 and pass on Spidey.
